A small but significant amount of data is emerging on the effects of erectile dysfunction treatments, including Viagra and Kamagra, on the quality of life for men with erectile dysfunction (ED).
The research team from the University of Liverpool’s Medical School has found that men who use Viagra and Kamagra are more likely to suffer from sexual dysfunction compared to those who use the treatments.
Researchers at the University of Liverpool have found that those who used the treatments were more likely to have lower levels of confidence and lower self-esteem, compared to those who didn’t use the treatments.
“The results suggest that erectile dysfunction treatment is associated with a lower risk of psychological, social, and economic issues,” said study lead author Dr Eran Ashiom, from the University of Liverpool.

Viagra and Kamagra are a new class of medications which are similar in structure and onset of action to those used for erectile dysfunction.
The research team involved more than 40,000 men with ED who were taking sildenafil, a treatment for pulmonary arterial hypertension, and had not used the medications in the past, the study authors said.
“Viagra is often used as a first-line treatment for ED, and Kamagra is often used as a first-line treatment for both conditions,” Dr Ashiom said.
The men who used the drugs had higher levels of confidence in both the sexual and emotional aspects of their lives, and also had lower self-esteem, according to the researchers.
“The findings suggest that the treatment is associated with a lower risk of psychological, social and economic issues,” the study authors said.
Viagra and Kamagra are the only treatments for erectile dysfunction available to men. Viagra is the active ingredient in the brand drug and is used to treat erectile dysfunction.
Those taking the drugs should not take the medication in conjunction with other medications, the study authors said. Those who used the treatments were more likely to have lower self-esteem and lower levels of confidence, they said.
“The results of this research suggest that erectile dysfunction treatment is associated with a lower risk of psychological, social and economic issues,” they said.
“We can understand the underlying psychological, social and economic factors underlying erectile dysfunction and help us to make changes in our lives,” Dr Ashiom said.
“If we can understand the underlying psychological, social and economic factors underlying erectile dysfunction, we can help to improve the quality of life for men with ED,” he added.
